Let’s Make This Place a Home
Homes Are A Start—We Need Much More Than A Building To Thrive
Front Step CLT: Where Neighbors Build Community.
We know it takes much more than affordable homes to keep our communities thriving: we need improved access to essential services and green space; neighborhood infrastructure and gathering spots; safe, walkable, and transit-friendly streets; strong networks of knowledge and resource sharing, and so much more. Creating these lasting changes starts by building community power.
Front Step CLT is a collective of neighbors gathering, sharing, and building so that everyone who calls Missoula home can thrive.
Through our organizing and engagement work, we strive to promote connected communities of belonging for all Missoulians, and support opportunities for neighbors to come together and build skills to make the changes they want to see in our city.
As part of our work toward community equity, we currently focus our organizing in Missoula’s historically least-invested in and low-income neighborhoods, including the Northside, Westside, Franklin to the Fort, and River Road communities.
Together, we can create thriving communities one step at a time.
Thriving Communities, One Step at a Time
What We Do:
Missoula Outdoor Cinema
We’ve provided 22 years of free outdoor summer films on the Northside, now expanding to other neighborhoods in Missoula.
Neighborhood Organizing
We support neighborhood groups in staying informed on city processes and organizing projects to make the built environment better.
Community Message Boards
We offer workshops and trainings to expand community knowledge around topics like tenant organizing, fair housing rights, and neighborhood preparedness.
Skills Building Opportunities
Front Step is working with Northside, Westside, Franklin to the Fort, and River Road neighbors to help install community bulletin boards across Missoula’s working class neighborhoods to promote better information-sharing.
Burns St. Community Center
We operate Burns Street Center, a community space that hosts Soft Landing Missoula’s United We Eat Program as well as pop-up events and Bistro catering.
